How do Rolex full services work?
A full-service inspection includes reviewing every function and determining the cause of any issue. To correct any faults or worn-out parts, the watch is dismantled and then reassembled. All components are then immersed in ultrasonic chemical baths, which eliminate any oil, grease or dirt.
After the movements and components are taken out of the chemical bath the next task is to break down the watch's case. This includes its crystal and case back. Each of these is removed one by one, and then the seals and gaskets are submerged in a large ultrasonic bath and refinished depending on the instructions of the buyer. After cleaning, the case can be reassembled. Gaskets and seals are then lubricated using specific greases.
Once the movement components have been completed, we move on to the pristine components. The components that have been reassembled are then lubricated with eight high-quality synthetic oils. The components of the movement which were completed earlier are then regulated by a timer in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer. Finally, hands and dials are fitted. Recheck the watch regulation on a timing machine since it could alter once the dial and hands are refitted. The watchcase will also be examined to make sure there's no dust or hair inside the case. The watchcase is then sealed and tested for resistance to water. Then, aesthetic, power reserve, and timekeeping checks are conducted to eliminate any possibility of error. This is also done to make sure the watch functions properly. It is a rebuilding process that can be extremely hectic.
After we finish servicing the watch after which we will return the watch to you with a two-year international guarantee.
A guide to knowing your Rolex instrument model
It's easy to identify Rolex watches models by simply looking at the model numbers on the outside of the case. This should provide some relief for collectors who often struggle to understand the Rolex company’s separate serial numbers system. The system is able to identify the the year of manufacture. It was, however, relatively easy to identify the models' numbers. There are specific model numbers for the Air-Kings model of Rolex, Date, Datejusts, Datejusts, Datejusts, Explorer, Explorer II and Submariner.
Take off the leather or strap with a pin and screwdriver each 12 hours. Make use of polishing brushes to get rid of grime, dirt and other remnants from the horns.
Find the model number between the two horns. The model number should comprise between four and six numbers. Rolex watches manufactured after 2000 will have an additional number prior to the model number. (See Resources 2 & 1) Early Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches have four digits. Examples include '1002' or'1003. Oyster Perpetuals that have later numbers may contain the letter '14203M' for example '14203M'.
It is crucial to remember that only the first two or three numbers identify the watch type. The bezel can be identified by the fourth digit in five-digit model numbers. Since the 1980s, a 3-digit number has been used to identify the country in which the watch was purchased for the first time.
You can look at the clasp of the bracelet made from steel with a magnifying light. The 3-digit code is just to the right of the Rolex logo Two letters are followed by a number. Rolex dealers verify that this is the date of manufacture. For example, 'DE5' identifies the bracelet as having been manufactured in May 2001.
Look at the dial to identify the model number on the Rolex watch. The word 'Rolex' that appears on the dial is what identifies the watch's model. Many early vintage Rolexes however, only have 'Rolex' on the dial and no other indications. The most popular model is known as 'Bubbleback' because of its self-winding mechanism appearing to be bolted on to the existing movement. The caseback appears to be rounded. Bubblebacks were offered on a variety of models, and were produced between 1933 and 1960.
Here's how to remove a Rolex instrument strap
The Rolex bracelet can be removed to create a new one or clean it. You can find the serial number in the 12 o'clock location (where the bracelet meets with the case) or the reference number in the 9-o'clock position (where the bracelet meets with the case). The serial and reference numbers are indicative of the watch's approximate manufacturing date.
There should be two tiny holes in the case where the strap attaches. This is the style of pierced ears. The strap is attached to the case of the watch by the spring bar. If you do not find two holes in the lugs, flip the watch over and look for the long elastic bar where the strap connects to the case of the watch. There is a slightly different method of removing the band from the two watch styles mentioned above, but the idea is the same.
If you have the pierced ear look you can press the link using your thumb. If you have the second type then you'll also need to press the first link however, you'll press the bottom of the link in the same way, since you'll be doing all the steps while turning the watch over. As you finish step 3 Apply light pressure on the link.
Insert the tip of the spring-loaded device into the ear hole in case you have the pierced ear look. Then, push the spring bar towards you from one side towards the watch. You will see the bar's elastic fall into the housing if this step is performed correctly.
If you prefer the second option, put one edge of the tool on each end of the spring bars and push it inwards while applying downward pressure to the spring bars. You will feel the elastic bar fall into the holster. Do the same for the other side.
Take the watchband off the watch case after you have released the spring bars on the right and left side of the band. The watch band is now removed from on one side. To remove the whole strap follow steps 2 and 3 on the opposite watch.
How to adjust the time on a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust
Oyster Perpetual's collection of watches is the foundation of Swiss watchmaker Swiss Watchmakers. Each Oyster Perpetual watch begins with a solid block of metal. Then the vault-shaped vault which houses the watch's movement is created. The watch's mechanism for movement is contained within this carefully crafted case. This means that the watch will keep track of time for throughout the time it's being worn.
Locate the crown on the watch. The crown is located on the watch's side at 3 o’clock. It protrudes from its body.
Place your right thumb onto the crown. Place your index finger on its back.
To remove the crown from its locked position Move your thumb to the 6 O'clock location and your index towards the 12 O'clock location.
Take the crown to the final edge.
To turn the crown, use your index and thumb. The crown moves the watch's hands. To move the hands clockwise or in the direction of forward movement, simply shift your thumb towards the 12 O'clock position. The crown rotates in the same direction as the hands on the dial rotate.
Once you have set the time, place the crown back in the case.
To secure the crown, use your index and thumb to ensure it is aligned to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Case. In order to secure the crown you will need to move your thumb towards the 12 oclock position.
How to look after a scratched Rolex crystal
People frequently check their watches to see the time. If the glass of the watch is scratched, it can be difficult to read clearly. The watch could be damaged and need to be repaired or replaced. You can save both time and money by removing the scratch yourself. It can take anywhere from two to four hours.
Combine 1 cup of water, 2 drops of dish detergent, and 1 cup of water into a large glass. Dip the 800 sandpaper in the solution.
Sand the watch's crystal with the 800 sandpaper. Continue to sand the surface until the scratch is gone. Although it will result in an even surface, it will appear cloudy.
The surface can be scrubbed with a metal polish several times. You can apply an ample amount of polish to a clean towel and rub it thoroughly until it becomes crystal transparent. The area should be cleaned with a towel.
Apply automotive wax to the crystal with an old piece of cloth. For the crystal to be covered rub the wax with circular movements. Utilize a microfiber cloth to polish the crystal. Make sure the watch has an even, clean finish. If the crystal is broken or damaged and you want to fix it, attach it to your watch.

Use a soft cloth to soak the edges in white vinegar. The vinegar kills bacteria. Rub the damp cloth on the watch band, cleaning both the exterior, the bottom and the edges of the band.
Let the cloth air dry. Then, dampen a clean side of the cloth using olive oil.
The olive oil can be applied to strap of the watch. Apply the oil in small amounts to lightly oil the watch. Utilizing a dry portion of the cloth, polish the watch to remove the oil. The oil will bring back the shine of the stainless steel.
